Herve Ladsous, Under-Secretary General and Head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the United Nations, will also take stock of of the Nepal Army's peacekeeping activities, according to Foreign Ministry sources.
During the visit, he will call on President Ram Baran Yadav and meet Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey and other government officials.
He is likely to meet Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who is undergoing treatment in a New York cancer hospital, if Koirala returns before Tuesday.
And later he will attend a function to be organised by the Nepal Army aimed at providing information about the army's contribution to the UN peacekeeping operations, future plans and strategy.
Nepal's contribution to the United Nations peacekeeping started in June 1958. In 2008, Nepal observed the 50th anniversary of its participation.
So far, Nepal has contributed more than 100,000 troops and police peacekeepers for maintaining international peace and security.
