Unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore was recovered on Wednesday from two Kerala-bound people here, police said.
Though the duo claimed the cash was meant to purchase timber from Kerala, the money was seized as they had "no proper document" to support the claim, they said.
The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PWE) of the police made the seizure during a vehicle check in Sathyamangalam Tiger reserve area when the two were found carrying the money in the car they were travelling, they said.
Of the two occupants, one was from Pune and the other from Kerala, they said, adding further investigation was on.
