In the aftermath of yesterday's shocking 1-2 loss to Sporting Clube de Goa here, Mohun Bagan spectators were seen mocking at the club officials and even threw abuses at the Moroccan.
Deeply disappointed with the way the team went down, Bencherifa gave enough hints of his resignation and said, "I would have to think about stepping down if we play like this."
"The supporters have all the right to be angry because they want Bagan to be at the top.
The supporters had all the hope as it was Mohun Bagan's first home match of the I-League as they had started with a loss (Pune FC) and a draw (Churchill Brothers).
The over dependence on Nigerian forward Odafa Okolie, who is recovering from an injury, is hurting Mohun Bagan's cause as they have so far managed to score only two goals including a penalty.
More difficult challenge awaits Mohun Bagan who face table leaders Salgaocar on October 23 which may see Odafa's comeback.
Since 2009 when Bencherifa had his first stint, Mohun Bagan have hired seven coaches including high profile Steve Darby who left in the middle of 2011-12 season.
