One police sub-inspector has been suspended and a case registered in this connection, Additional SP Radhey Mohan Bhardwaj said.
The family of the victim, Balvir, has alleged that the in-charge of Awagarh police station along with a sub-inspector and two constables had tortured Balvir.
They alleged that the policemen had used petrol filled injections on Balvir's private parts.
A resident of Isoli village, in Sakroli police station area, Balvir had died yesterday in Lucknow's PGI hospital where he was admitted. He had been arrested on April 23 in a murder case.
Police and PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel have been posted in the village after tension mounted there among the locals over the death.
