The incident took place last night when the victim, Shivmilan Singh, a gym owner in city's Anand Nagar, was travelling from from Pathardi Phata and was intercepted by four persons near Vadner Gate on the Nashik Devlali camp road, in-charge of Upnagar police station, Bajirao Mahajan said.
According to the complaint lodged by Singh, he was stopped and forcibly taken out of his car by assailants, who then fired rounds from a revolver. A bullet hit his left hand, injuring him severely.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (circle no.2), Shrikrishna Kokate, however, suspect that Singh, who has offences of dacoity and extortion lodged against him, himself staged the attack on him as he had borrowed a large sum of money several people and was under pressure to repay them.
