UP: 2 excise personnel injured in stone pelting

Two excise department personnel were injured in stone pelting by villagers during a raid to check sale of illicit liquor in the Jaithara area here Tuesday, police said.

Inspector Dinesh Paswan and sub-inspector Rajesh, posted in Jaithara police station, were injured when the people in Jarari started pelting stones on them as soon as they reached the village, they said.

Senior police and civil officials reached the spot after the incident, police said. They added that the situation was under control now.

Some persons have been detained and a probe is on, police said.
