Congress, its candidate from Gautam Budh Nagar Ramesh Chand Tomar today joined BJP accusing the Sonia Gandhi-led party of "encouraging divisive politics" in the country.
Tomar, who was in the BJP earlier, had unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate from Gautam Buddh Nagar.
He joined the BJP in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh here.
"Congress is now giving fillip to communal forces in the country. The party is promoting divisive and communal politics...I was feeling uncomfortable in the party that is why I re-joined the BJP," Tomar told PTI after joining the party in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh.
