Two ministers of the newly installed Uttar Pradesh government are visiting Chhattisgarh to study the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state.
UP Food Minister Atul Garg and Agriculture Minister Choudhary Lakshminarayan arrived here last evening and called on the Chief Minister Raman Singh today.
They also held a meeting with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punnulal Mohile, who gave them information about the state's PDS, an official release said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants to implement the 'Chhattisgarh PDS model' as it has been hailed at the national level, Garg and Lakshminarayan told Raman Singh, the release said.
Singh assured that he will send a team led by Mohile to UP to extend help.
More than 58 lakh poor families are provided rice at Rs 1 per kilogram through 12,348 fair price shops in Chhattisgarh. Iodised salt is provided free of cost (2 kg per family in tribal region and 1 kg per family elsewhere), Mohile told the visiting ministers during the meeting.
Ration cards are issued in the name of elderly woman member of the family, he said.
From the financial year 2017-18, about eight thousand physically disabled persons will get rice free of cost, he said.
