The body of a police constable was found in a drain in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh today, a day after he had gone missing, a senior police official said.
Meharban Ali, 59, was posted as operator in the computer department of the city police. He had gone missing last evening.
"Today his body was recovered from a drain," Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Tripathi said.
He said Ali's family has so far not raised suspicion over his death. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Tripathi said Ali's daughter was killed nearly two months ago when she was going to her coaching classes.
Two people accused in the case are in jail, he said.
An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to Ali's death.
