UP receives light to moderate rains

With the south-west monsoon remaining normal in the state, moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours.
Met office sources here said that chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms was: Baheri( Bareilly)-17, Bhinga (Shravasti) -11, Palliakalan-5, Jaunpur-4 and Balrampur, Ghazipur-3 each.
The Met officials forecast rain and thundershowers would occur at many places over western UP and few places over eastern part of the state in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Central Water Commission sources said that the river Ganga was still flowing near the red mark at Fatehgarh.
Sharda continued to flow above the danger mark at Palia Kalan (Kheri) and was rising while Ghaghra was flowing close to the red mark at Elgin bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar.
Quano, which had been in spate since the past week was still flowing above the red mark at Chandradeep Ghat (Gonda) and Mukhlispur (Sant Kabirnagar).
