The action against the five accused - identified as Vikram Saini, Mukkaram, Ghanshayam, Radhey Shyam and Israr - was confirmed yesterday, police added.
The detention of the five accused, in connection with two cases in Muzaffarnagar and three in Shamli, has been confirmed under provisions of National Security Act, District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said today.
However, two cases involving BJP MLAs Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana are yet to be decided by the State Advisory Board.
Som, accused of uploading a video which reportedly sparked communal tensions in Muzaffarnagar, was arrested in Meerut on September 21. He is also facing allegations of having made inflammatory speeches
Rana was arrested from Lucknow on September 20 for his alleged role in fanning the communal violence which left 62 persons dead and rendered 40,000 homeless.
Three persons were killed earlier this week when fresh violence erupted in the Budhana area of Muzaffarnagar district.
