The petitioner sought a court direction to quash the amendment made by the state government in 2015 to Right to Fair
Compensation and Transparency Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement act of 2013.
He also wanted stay on land acquisition besides stay on giving environment clearance based on an application made by the state energy secretary and Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) chairman for the 2x800 mw project.
