Urad, gram up on stockists buying

Prices of urad and gram firmed up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on hectic buying by stockists, to meet rising demand from retailers.
Marketmen said increased buying by stockists to meet strong demand from retailers amidst restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the upsurge in urad and gram prices.
They said reports of lower output this year due to recent unseasonal rains in key growing regions also supported the upside.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local shot up by Rs 500 each to Rs 7,800-8,300 and Rs 8,700-8,900 per quintal respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya were up by a similar margin to Rs 8,900-9,500 and Rs 9,300-9,600 per quintal respectively.

Gram, gramdal local and best quality were also up Rs 50 each to Rs 4,550-5,400, Rs 4,900-5,100 and Rs 5,000-5,300 per quintal respectively.
Besin Shaktibhog and Rajdhani were too quoted higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,100 each per 35 kg bag respectively.
