Urea manufacturers received gas at Rs 622.47/MMBtu in June

Urea manufacturers in the country received natural gas at a uniform pooled price of Rs 622.47 per MMBtu in June this year, Parliament was informed today.
"Natural gas (both domestic and imported RLNG) is being supplied to all the 25 urea units connected by the natural gas grid at a uniform pooled price. The uniform pooled price of gas for the month of June 2015 is Rs 622.47 per MMBtu (GCV basis)," Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
Each proposed urea project to be set up under New Investment Policy (NIP)-2012 and its announcement thereof, would require 2.4 MMSCMD of natural gas.
He also informed that for revival of urea projects, Sindri, Gorakhpur and Ramagundam units of Fertiliser Corporation of India Ltd (FCIL) and Barauni unit of Hindustan Fertiliser Corporation of India Ltd (HFCL) would each require 2.4 MMSCMD of gas, which is likely to arise by 2018-19.
Ahir also added that the likely date of competition of Jagdishpur Haldia pipeline project Phase-1 is December 2018, which in synchronisation with revival of fertiliser plants and readiness of IOCL refinery at Barauni.
The pipeline would cater the energy requirement of fertiliser plant of FCIL at Gorakhpur and HFCL at Barauni.
