"According to Nasscom, US FTC has reported that between January and August 2015, 23,709 complaints were filed under the technology support scams category, with a reported consumer loss of more than $5 million. FTC has further stated that our (US) law enforcement experience indicates that many tech support scams originate from call centres located in India," Minister of State for Electronics and IT, P P Chaudhary said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
Nasscom-Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and FTC have hosted two meetings in India with stakeholders in India, the US and Canada.
