Deputy Secretary of State William Burns conveyed this message during his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister's Special Adviser for Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, a State Department spokesperson said.
"They discussed the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan and the Deputy (Burns) welcomed public comments by senior Pakistani officials that they are taking action against all terrorists and their sanctuaries without regard for affiliation," the spokesperson said.
The meeting took place on July 22.
"Burns and Fatemi reaffirmed our commitment to cooperate on a full range of bilateral issues, including counterterrorism, economic and regional issues," the spokesperson said.
