Gabbard, a Democrat representative from Hawaii was on a day-long visit today to meet Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar to discuss about ties between the coastal state and Hawaii on various fronts.
"There are unfortunately very bad people in different parts of the world who are committing horrible atrocities and this is unacceptable. My view is that US cannot be in a position to police everyone with the limited resources," Gabbard, told PTI.
The sole Hindu member of the US Congress said the USA can partner with friends and allies to fight against terrorists.
"But the number one priority for US as well as for India should be to keep our people safe and do whatever it takes to make that happen," she asserted.
On the recent Peshawar school attack, Gabbard said the barbaric incident calls for a global commitment against terrorism.
"My deep and heartfelt condolences for people of Pakistan. After this tragic attack I think what needs to happen both in Pakistan and around the world is a focus and commitment against terrorism.
During her India visit, Gabbard held meeting with several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and others.
