Launching a website on the film maker-author in the presence of members of the K A Abbas Centenary Celebrations Committee in Delhi, Qureshi said, "Abbas' contribution to Indian literature and cinema should be made known nationally and globally."
The website is an initiative of the Centenary celebrations Committee formed to observe the birth centenary of Abbas and to acquaint the new and future generations about his work, a Raj Bhawan release said here.
As a screenwriter, he was considered one of the pioneers of Indian parallel or neo-realistic cinema having made films like Neecha Nagar (1946), the Palm d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Dharti Ke Lal, Saat Hindustani and Do Boond Pani.
