The Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in Uttarakhand under which consumers will be provided LED lights at economical rates was set into motion by Chief Minister Harish Rawat today.
The state-owned Energy Efficiency Services (EESL), under the Power Ministry, will implement the programme in the state, EESL said in a release.
According to the statement, the petition to start the discounted LED scheme was formally accepted by the state regulatory commission and the order had been issued.
Under the programme, each consumer is eligible for 3 LED bulbs per domestic household, which will be given at an upfront cost of Rs 10 each.
The balance towards the actual price will be recovered from the consumers' electricity bill over 10 months, subject to a maximum of approximately Rs 10 for each LED bulb every month.
With each LED, the bills is expected to come down by about Rs 160-400 per year, thus making the cost recovery much less.
The LED bulbs under this scheme are of superior quality and come with a 3-year warranty and a life of 25,000 hours. The LED bulb is 7 watt and equivalent to a 60-watt filament lamp.
To avail of the scheme, the customer needs to provide a copy of the latest electricity bill, along with a copy of ID proof. The list of distribution centres is available on www.Delp.In and one can dial 1800-419-0405 for further assistance.
EESL will provide replacement free of cost for all technical faults for three years.
By 2019, it aims to replace 77 crore incandescent bulbs in the residential sector throughout the country.
