"We (government) ca not find a judge (who is suitable for the post of Lokayukta). The state government has completed required groundwork for setting up of Lokayukta, including passing of the bill on the floor of the Legislative Assembly," BJP state unit spokesperson Dr Wilfred Mesquita told reporters while replying to a query during a press conference.
Mesquita said the state government had zeroed in on one of the retired judges for the job. "However, it is not sure whether he would accept the offer", he said.
Manohar Parrikar-led government had passed the Goa Lokayukta Bill on the floor of the House during last Assembly session and later notified it in May 2012.
The state government has already formed a committee under Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni to shortlist the probables for the post.
