The ashes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were brought here today as people from all walks of life joined the procession to pay their last respects to the late BJP stalwart.
As the vehicle with the urn containing the ashes of the departed leader touched the frontiers of the Amethi district at Inhauna under Jagdishpur Assembly segment on Varanasi-Lucknow national highway, people thronged the road to pay their tributes to Vajpayee.
Later the 'asthi kalash' (urn) was taken to Jagdishpur, Tiloi, Jamo, Gauriganj and Amethi as people bedecked the vehicle with flower petals.
MLAs Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh (Tiloi), Suresh Passi (Jagdishpur, a Minister of State in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet) and several other BJP leaders paid floral tributes to the departed leader.
