Maintaining that everybody should be proud of calling themselves Hindus, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today batted for inclusion of treatments referred in the Vedas in the medical curriculum.
"What is wrong in teaching the remedies referred in the Vedas in medical curriculum...," Joshi said at a programme here.
"Swami Vivekananda said we should be proud to call ourselves Hindu. So what is wrong in it? We should respect and follow the world view and the idea that Hinduism espouses. Please someone try to reason with Mamata Banerjee on the issue of being (a) proud Hindu," Joshi said.
RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat, who also attended the programme, said it was Hinduism and its idea that kept the country united.
"For ages India has been united. Despite various cultures, languages and cuisines, we are united. The reason is that it is Hinduism which unites the entire country," Bhagawat said.
