Vellaiyan appointed as the new chairman of IIM-K

A Vellayan, Executive Chairman ofthe Murugappa group, has been appointed as the Chairmanof the Society and Board of Governors of IIM, Kozhikode.
He is an alumnus of well known educational institutions such as Doon School, Sriram College of Commerce, Aston University, U.K. and University of Warwick Business School, U.K., a release from the IIM-K said.
Vellaiyan has been honoured with Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by Tamil Nadu Agricultural Universityand Aston University, UK.
Vellaiyan, the Chairman of Coromandal International Ltd, EID Parry (India) and Murugappa Holdings, is also associated with various organisations, including Ambadi Investments (P) Ltd., Kanoria Chemicals an Industries and Foskor Pty.Ltd, South Africa.

He has held positions of President in various industry and trade organizations in the past and was also the Director of EXIM Bank and Indian Overseas Bank, the release said.
"On behalf of the entire IIM Kozhikode community, I am delighted to welcome Shri Vellayan as the new Chairmanof the Institute.I am sure that under his guidance, IIM-Kozhikode shall attain greater heights", the release quoted Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Director (Incharge) of IIM-K, as saying.
