Police in Suryapet district of Telangana is verifying the reports which alleged that a man belonging to ruling TRS "abused and kicked" a youth, when he questioned him for not getting him a job after taking money.
The video went viral on Internet and news channels showing a man kicking a youth, with a section of media alleged that the man is one Santosh, a local TRS leader.
However, police said the identity of the man in question, has not yet been established.
The video shows two persons sitting on the ground and pleading with a man with folded hands sitting on a chair, with a background poster written in Telugu saying 'Private Job Consultancy'.
During conversation, the man points fingers to the youths and suddenly starts kicking one of them.
"We are verifying who is (the man) in the video. It is still in verification stage," Deputy Superintendent of Police (Suryapet Division) Sunitha Mohan told PTI.
According to media reports, Santosh collected amounts ranging between Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh from unemployed youth by promising them jobs.
However, as some of them did not get any jobs they questioned Santosh, who according to the reports asked them to come to his office where he allegedly abused two of the unemployed youths and kicked one of them.
The reports further alleged that the man is also follower of a Telangana minister.
"The allegations have to be confirmed. We are verifying. No one has come forward to lodge any complaint with police so far in connection with the incident...We are in the process of locating the youths who are seen being assaulted in the video. We will record their statements and based on it proceed accordingly," Mohan said.
