Vice President interacts with students

Why the country's education budget is less than that of defence or the reason there is no right to higher education were among questions which Vice President M Hamid Ansari faced when he interacted with the students of a private varsity here.
Why is the defence budget more than the education budget was on of the questions that Ansari was asked to which he said that the this was an issue being followed since long.
The Government is putting thrust on education and allocating more funds, he said.
Another student said that the the Right to Education is implemented at the school level and asked why higher education was not included under it.

Ansari said the government is paying attention to higher education as well and trying to ensure that deserving students get chance for higher education.
Various types of scholarships and funding patterns are available for higher education, he said.
Ansari said students acquire higher education but often they do not acquire the skill needed for jobs. He added that India lags in research.
