The elaborate celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of India's victory in Kargil War, also called as Vijay Diwas, will commence here from tomorrow when senior officers and ex-servicemen will remember those who put down their lives while defending the country.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, who were expected to visit Drass tomorrow, were forced to cancel the visit due to inclement weather.
Though the celebrations began on July 20, the main functions will be held over the next two days beginning tomorrow.
In the evening, a pipe band and brass band display will be held which will be followed by a beating retreat ceremony.
Then the army will hold a memorial service at the Kargil War Memorial where prayers by religious leaders will also be held. They will be followed by lighting of lamps.
The wreath laying ceremony for the martyred will be held on Sunday which will be followed by an interaction with Veer Naris.
This evening, the army organised a dare devil show which enthralled the audience who had turned up in hundreds to witness the event.
Braving the rains, a team of Corps of Signals called as Daredevils, who hold 17 world records, showcased different rides.
The audiences were enthralled by the precision and balance of the team as the Daredevils went on with their death-defying acts.
