The village pradhan, Ashraf, had yesterday gone to Tehsil headquarters here to register a complaint with authorities against unauthorised encroachment of Gram Samaj land by mafia, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Singh said quoting a complaint by pradhan's brother Mueed Ahemad.
The pradhan flew into a rage when the authorities paid no heed to his compaint and shouted at them, following which Sub-inspector Radhey Lal and SHO Udai Pratap assaulted him in front of revenue officials, Ahemad alleged.
The sub-inspector has been suspended and the SHO transferred to district police lines, the SSP said.
"Departmental probe has also been ordered into the matter," Singh said.
