The body ofBarse Deva (32) was found this morning in the forests near Lakhanpal village under Chintalnar police station limits, a senior police official told PTI.
As per the information, the victim was picked up by armedrebels from his native place Konanguda, located around 500 kms from the state capital, in the night of February 8, the official said.
"Some locals today spotted the body of Deva with grievous injuries in the nearby forest and informed police following which security forces rushed to the spot," he said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that some relatives of Deva were associated with Maoists but few weeks back they surrendered and joined the social mainstream.
Meanwhile, a combing operation has been launched in the region to trace the assailants, he added.
