Congress in Punjab today attacked BJP's Gurdaspur Lok Sabha candidate Vinod Khanna saying the actor was far removed from reality and lacked vision.
Calling Khanna 'Mumbai ka Babu', state Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, who is the Congress candidate from Gurdaspur, said the state faced problems like unemployment and drug addiction which had multiplied under the present government headed by Parkash Singh Badal.
He said Khanna perhaps did not know that the situation in Punjab had worsened during the last seven years since the Akali Dal-BJP government came to power.
"Khanna should know that the celluloid world is far removed from reality. But the problem with him is that he continues to treat his make-believe world of celluloid as reality and hence, is not able to come out with any real solution," Bajwa said at poll meetings here.
Bajwa said it was the UPA government which had been working for the empowerment of people, especially women and it had created lakhs of employment avenues at every level while the record of the Akali-BJP government in the state was nil, he said.
Bajwa claimed that the Badal government had hijacked even the food security scheme of the UPA and was promoting it as its own.
Referring to the SAD's promise to double pensions, he said when the Akalis seek votes, people would question them for having forgotten the promise, and also claimed that in Badal's village, people had not received pensions in the last three months.
"If this can happen in the native village of the Chief Minister, one can visualise what will be the situation in the rest of the state," Bajwa said, adding that the state had failed to deliver in other areas also.
