Viqaruddin alias Viqar, along with four of his associates, was shot dead by the police while they were trying to flee from a police van in Telangana's Warangal district.
"My daughter called me and informed me about the incident. There is no chance of their escaping from the police. This is a plot by the police to eliminate him. This is what we think at this moment. We want justice. We demand that whoever was involved in his murder (encounter) should be punished. Let the courts decide if he is guilty. Whatever the court decides, even if it is a death sentence, we will accept, but not killings by the police," Ahmed said.
However, Warangal Inspector General of Police V Naveen Chand maintained that the police had to open fire at Viqar and his men due to an "unavoidable situation".
He said that the incident occurred after the terror operative allegedly snatched a weapon from one of the policemen escorting them in a van to a court in Hyderabad from Warangal Central Jail.
Viqar's father said that he would decide his future course of action after consulting his legal advisor.
Meanwhile, Viqar's counsel Mohammed Azim called the incident a "fake encounter" and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.
"Cases against Viqar were in the final stage. The police failed to place evidence against him in court," Azim claimed.
"Fearing that Viqar might be acquitted in these cases, he was killed," the counsel alleged.
