Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said US President Barack Obama's India visit last month and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official tour to the US last year has raised the country's prestige in the eyes of the Americans.
Chouhan, who returned from a six-day-long tour of the USA today, was accorded a warm welcome at the city airport.
"The prestige of India among the US Congressmen and citizens has increased manifold after the mutual visit of the US President and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to their respective countries," Chouhan said.
Besides, Prime Minister's suggestion during the Global Investors Meet in Indore last year that each state should constitute its own global talent pool, has taken shape in the form of 'Friends of Madhya Pradesh' forum, which was addressed by a number of key persons, including three Congressmen, he said.
"The 'Friends of Madhya Pradesh' forum started receiving tremendous response immediately after its launch in New York with more than 11,000 NRIs and other persons associating with the newly-launched body," Chouhan said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that nearly a dozen investors gave their proposals to forge development partnership with Madhya Pradesh.
He also informed that the MP Medical Alumni Association of North America (MPMAANA) proposed to set up an advisory panel as a resource to the Chief Minister and the Director of Medical Education.
"It has plans for an exchange programme for faculty and students between Madhya Pradesh and MPMAANA, North America. The association members, according to the initial proposal will be given privilege of being a visiting faculty to the MP Medical University. It will create academic opportunities in the state. A memorandum to this effect was also submitted on the occasion," he said.
