Filmmaker Remo D'Souza wants his upcoming Tiger Shroff-starrer superhero film "Flying Jat" to be an answer to Hollywood's action movies.
Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, "Flying Jat" will see a Punjabi superhero for the first time in India.
Though the "ABCD 2" director feels the subject is challenging, he wants to raise the bar of superhero films in India through the movie.
"The film will see the first Punjabi superhero. It is a big subject. It is something I have to prove it again. With 'ABCD 2', I had to prove that dancing could be of a certain level and with this film I have to show that a superhero film can be made in India like this," Remo told PTI.
"Like we always see 'Avengers', 'Spider-Man', 'Superman' and I want to take this film on that level so that Indian people think that we also have our superhero film. It is my answer to the foreign superhero movies," he said.
The filmmaker is happy with the way the movie is shaping up and looking forward to its second schedule in mid-August.
Praising Tiger, Remo said he wanted to launch the "Heropanti" actor and is happy he is finally getting to direct the young star.
"I know Tiger before he came into films. I wanted to launch him but he got launched in 'Heropanti', which was good as well. Then I thought I would do second film with him but his second is 'Baaghi'. I am happy his third film is with me," the director said.
Remo, who choreographed Jacqueline in her earlier films, said he knew from the beginning she would become the star she is today.
"Jacqueline is outstanding, she is amazing. I did songs for her first film and since then I knew she would do well and she is," he said.
"Flying Jat", produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is slated to release in 2016.
