A wanted criminal, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested after an encounter with police in Chandausi area here, officials said on Thursday.
A constable was also injured in the encounter which took place on Wednesday, the police officials said.
A police team was conducting checking at Raya Khurd crossing. When it stopped two persons on a motorcycle, they opened fire. A constable, Rohit, was injured in the firing, Superintendent of Police Yamuna Prasad said.
The police team retaliated and Wasim was injured in the exchange of fire, he said.
Both the injured have been admitted to hospital and they are stated to be in a stable condition, the police said.
Wasim's accomplice managed to flee from the spot. Efforts are being made to nab him, they said.
