SHO Niwari police station Satyendra Rai said Dharamvir was employed as watchman at the Modi Sugar Mills cane weighing centre.
Last night, Dharamvir did not report at the weighing Centre. In the meantime, somebody called his family members and informed that he was lying unconscious on road side, he said.
When rushed to the spot they discovered he was shot in his chest. He had died on the spot, police said.
Police sent the body for postmortem.
An FIR has been registered against unknown assailants. One person has been detained in the matter, the officer added.
