Water in dams of rain-ravaged Uttarakhand is 449 per cent above normal level, the Central Water Commission (CWC) has said in its latest summary on status of reservoirs.
In its weekly report, CWC has said that the departure from normal storage in Uttarakhand is 449 per cent, which is the highest in the country.
While in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the departure from normal level is minus 46 per cent and minus 82 per cent respectively, in Madhya Pradesh it is 279 per cent and 264 per cent in West Bengal.
This means that water in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu dams is below normal storage. It is above normal in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
CWC, the technical arm of the Water Resources Ministry, monitors water levels in Ramganga and Tehri dams of Uttarakhand.
At least 822 people have died so far in the rains and flash floods which have hit the hill state. More rains are feared in the state in the coming days.
