Water supply projects to be set up in Agartala

With the sanction of Rs 121 crore by Asian Development Bank (ADB), Tripura government has taken initiative to set up water supply projects in southern part of the capital city by the next year, a minister said today.
Urban Development (UD) Minister Manik Dey along with Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dr Prafullajit Sinha and CEO of AMC Milind Ramteke and other government officials visited some areas of the southern part of the city today and reviewed the progress of the project and asked the officials to complete the project by the next year.
Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has already received Rs 48 crore of the total sanction of Rs 121 crore to extend water supply facility in South Zone of the civic body, Dey told reporters.

"Altogether 22 deep tube wells would be setup as per the plan, of which works for 19 deep tube wells have already been completed. Of the total 14 over-hand tanks, works are in progress for nine such tanks. A length of 232 km water pipeline would be laid under the first phase of the ADB aided drinking water supply project for giving water connections to 42000 households in the area," the minister said.
