Stating that the state government has to bear more than 40 per cent of the fund for the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna, a senior West Bengal minister today said it wants to change the name of the scheme to "Rajya Sadak Yojna".
"We have to bear over 40 per cent fund for the scheme. It is almost 50 per cent. Then why should it be called Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna ? We have objection to it," West Bengal Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee said.
He said Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) could be called "Rajya Sadak Yojna".
Last week Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had raised the issue of non-release of Central funds for state development projects and said this amounted to "political discrimination".
"The Centre has withheld funds under MNREGA and other schemes. It has also withheld Rs 1,700 crore under the 100 days work scheme. They have also slashed funds for various other projects," she had said.
