Admitting highs and lows in his terms with forever-friend Rituparno Ghosh, superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee says after a recent re-union they were planning to come up with another project together.
"I communicate with Ritu till this date. He is with us. We had our differences, fights and arguments and again we remained the best of friends. He had made me the Prosenjit of content-driven cinema first. After making up again recently we had plans to come up with another work," the Chokher Bali actor said at Ritutarpan, a tribute to the maverick film maker.
"However that did not happen as Ritu had to go when he was not supposed to," Prosenjit, who had met Rituparno again at the 'Bapi Bari Ja' premier last December, said.
Prosenjit, who had turned up in seven Rituparno films, would not dwell much on the morning in end April when the terrible news was broken to him.
"Rituparno is no more, but there are promising young directors around and their script and ideas whet my apetite for good roles," he said at the 'Ritutarpan' tribute, organised by India Greens Ltd.
Eminent vocalist of the Benaras gharana Girija Devi described Rituparno as a musically inclined personality having great grasp on ragas.
Girija Devi, the thumri legend, also complimented Prashant A Samadhar of Fiza, Taal fame, who had brought to life the lyrics of 'Ritutarpan', composed by popular, contemporary poet-lyricist Srijato.
"Classical stream is to music what the root of a big tree is to the banyan as that sustains the whole body, leaves and the branches for years. Let's not forget the roots," she said to a question.
Prashant, who will rate the music of both Raincoat and Memories in March by Rituparno as haunting and truly melodious retaining the essence of our rich heritage, said they had plans to work together this year itself.
The video album, along with a citation, pays rich tribute to the master filmmaker and his legacy featuring exclusive clippings from his life and works.
