The DAV CMC President also asserted that the country's education system needs to be improved to be able to produce "leaders" and the group was focusing on the right blend of traditional education in the current academic system.
The DAV CMC manages over 800 educational institutions in the country which include schools and higher education colleges.
"The idea of western education system was introduced in the country by Lord Macaulay with a purpose of getting clerks from India. This is where the current education system needs to improve to enable our students to reach their potential and produce more leaders in the country," he told PTI in an interview.
"We also need to have thinking classrooms, which will take our teaching to next generation level. In pursuit of improving the education sector, we focus more on quality of what the teachers are teaching but equally important is to monitor what the students are learning from it," he said.
"We started with our first university in Jalandhar two years ago. Now we are coming up with an all women's university in Yamuna Nagar which will also be operated completely by women," he said.
"In addition to this, we are in process of opening a Skill Development Centre in Rourkela and a Law University, also in Odisha. We have identified the land for both the projects and applied for permissions. Hopefully we will get approvals from the government soon," he added.
