Wheat prices fell by 0.61 per cent to Rs 1,786 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators cut down their positions, triggered by adequate stocks position on increased supplies at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in June was trading lower by Rs 11, or 0.61 per cent to Rs 1,786 per quintal with an open interest of 6,710 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by traders on sufficient stocks position in the spot markets on increased arrivals from producing belts and low demand mainly led to decline in wheat prices.
