Wheat prices were up by 0.35 per cent to Rs 1,742 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh positions, triggered by tight stocks position at spot market on fall in arrivals from producing regions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in September month rose by Rs 6, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 1,742 per quintal with an open interest of 17,490 lots.
Similarly, the wheat for delivery in October contracts traded higher by Rs 5 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 1,762 per quintal in 4,410 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions created by traders amid tight stocks position following fall in arrivals in the physical market against uptick in demand from flour mills led to rise in wheat prices at futures trade.
