Wheat procurement picking up in Haryana

In Haryana, the wheat procurement has reached 63,26,064 metric tonnes during the current rabi season, up from 61,11,470 metric tonnes up to same day last year.
Besides, the target of 65 lakh metric tonnes fixed for this year is not far to achieve, an official spokesman said here today.
He said that out of the total arrival of 63,26,064 metric tonnes this year, 63,25,844 metric tonnes of the crop have been procured on minimum support price and the remaining was mopped up by traders.
Giving details, he said that over 18.72 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, over 27.50 lakh metric tonnes by Hafed, over 6.57 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro, more than 10.40 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 5,800 metric tonnes of wheat by Confed.
He said that so far district Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where over 9.34 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, followed by Karnal with over 6.59 lakh metric tonnes.
