Wheat, rice basmati move up on increased offtake

Prices of wheat and rice basmati firmed up by up to Rs 100 at the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by millers.
However, bajra and maize slipped on fall in demand from consuming industries.
Traders said increased offtake by flour mills mainly led to recovery in wheat prices.
They said pick up in demand from retailers helped rice basmati prices to trade higher.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) edged up by Rs 10 to Rs 2,080-2,085 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher at Rs 2,095-2,100 from previous level of Rs 2,075-2,090 per 90 kg.

In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also settled higher at Rs 5,900-6,000 and Rs 4,700-5,900 from previous levels of Rs 5,800-5,900 and Rs 4,650-5,850 per quintal.

On the other hand, other bold grains like, bajra and maize fell by Rs 30 each to Rs 1,470-1,475 and Rs 1,570-1,580 per quintal, respectively.
