Wheat, rice basmati soften on low demand

Prices of wheat and rice basmati eased by up to Rs 100 per quintal at wholesale grains market today owing to slackened demand against sufficient stocks position.
However, other bold grains rose on pick-up in demand from consuming industries.
Traders said fall in demand from flour mills and stockists against sufficient stocks position helped wheat and rice basmati prices to trade lower.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) shed Rs 5 to Rs 1,760-1,765 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,765-1,770 per 90 kg.
Rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also slipped to Rs 6,800-7,100 and Rs 5,600-5,650 from previous levels of Rs 6,800-7,200 and Rs 6,800-7,200 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, other bold grains like, bajra, maize and barley settled higher at Rs 1,190-1,200, Rs 1,335-1,340 and Rs 1,460-1,470 from previous levels of Rs 1,135-1,145, Rs 1,295-1,305 and Rs 1,410-1,430 per quintal, respectively.
