Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar today targeted the Shiv Sena for 'opposing' the coastal road project in Mumbai.
Addressing a press conference here, Shelar said Maharashtra"Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had secured all 17 permissions required for the project from various Central agencies.
"The Shiv Sena should make its stand public, stating why it is opposing the project," Shelar said, alleging ulterior motives on part of the BJP's bickering ally.
When contacted for reaction, the Shiv Sena said it wasn't opposing the project. "It was Shiv Sena's dream project and there is no question of opposing it," said Sena leader Yashwant Jadhav, chairman of the municipal standing committee.
"The proposal was technically incorrect, so we (the Sena-controlled standing committee) kept it on hold. We are not opposing it, in fact it is our promise to Mumbaikars. We wanted some clarifications about the project from the BMC administration," added Jadhav.
Shelar, meanwhile, also demanded that the civic body BMC should inspect the storm-water drainage system ahead of the monsoon.
A pumping station in Juhu-Santacruz, Khar area was not working, he alleged.
