Widespread rains lash many parts of TN

Widespread rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu today, bringing relief to the people from the sweltering heat.
While showers brought down the temperature here since last evening, Chennaiites also woke up to a cool and cloudy morning today. Some areas received light showers in the morning, the MeT office here said.
The weatherman has forecast generally cloudy conditions for Chennai with rain or thundershowers in some areas during evening or night for the next 24 hours, starting 0830 hrs today.
Vriddhachalam and Sethiathope, (both Cuddalore district) received the maximum rainfall of five cm each, it said.
Good spells of rain were also received across different parts of the state, including Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Salem, Tiruvallore and Erode districts, the weather office added.

It forecast isolated light to moderate rain over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next 24 hours.
