Will mobilise anti-Congress votes: Rao Inderjit Singh

He said yesterday he had decided to bid good-bye to Congress politics

After deciding to say "good-bye" to Congress, MP Rao Inderjit Singh today said he would work for mobilising anti-Congress votes in the next Lok Sabha elections but remained non-committal on whether he would join some other political party.

The former Union Minister made it clear that he has not resigned from the party yet but would not contest from Congress in the next polls.

"The situation in the country right now is difficult. I will work for mobilising anti-Congress votes in the next polls," he told PTI here.

Inderjit Singh hit the headlines last month when he demanded a thorough probe into the alleged land deals of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra.

"I have not resigned from the party. But I have said that I will not seek re-election on a Congress ticket. Whenever my membership comes for renewal, I will not renew it," he said.

Asked if he would join some other party or float his own party, the 63-year-old Member of Lok Sabha from Haryana's Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi remained non-committal.

"A decision in this regard will be taken at later at an appropriate time," he said.

Singh, who has been with Congress for 35 years, announced at a rally in Rewari in Haryana yesterday that he had decided to "bid good-bye to Congress politics".

Son of late Union Minister Rao Birendra Singh, he is third-term MP. He had been a four-time legislator in Haryana since 1977 and had also been a state minister has a considerable influence in Southern Haryana.
