He forayed into films with "Khamoshiyan" this year, but actor Gurmeet Choudhary, one of the most popular faces of Indian television today, says he will not leave the small screen platform completely.
The actor began his career with hit mythological show "Ramayan" and followed it up with "Geet", "Punar Vivah" and hoards of reality shows, which made him a household name.
Gurmeet said even though he has turned his attention to Bollywood, he will continue doing television shows, barring daily soaps.
"My effort is to do both films and television work. It will be very wrong in my part to say that I don't want to do TV. I owe my career to TV," Gurmeet told PTI.
"It is because of those shows that today I am getting film offers films and other projects. I am lucky that I have been loved by fans in every medium," said the actor, who is part of the new Zee TV reality show "I Can Do That".
The actor, who calls himself the "king of television", did not taste similar success with his first Bollywood outing "Khamoshiyan". But Gurmeet is not complaining as he wants his film career to grow slowly and steadily.
"I believe that sudden fame is not good. The foundation has to be strong and It will take me far in my career. I want a steady success, I don't want to vanish from the scene. I think I got a good launch and I benefited a lot from the film as people have appreciated my work," he said.
Gurmeet's second film is on the floor and he will join the team later this month. The actor did not give out any details of the project but said the role is similar to the characters he has essayed on TV.
