Putting up a brave face in the backdrop of a complete white-wash in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress' state unit today said it would not be bogged down by the result and thanked voters who had voted for the party.
TNCC President B S Gnanadesikan said there was a common mood from Kashmir to Kanyakumari (against Congress) and that the party's loss at the national level was "not a matter of concern" but something which should be "researched".
"I greet the party workers in Tamil Nadu who had worked tirelessly despite many economic crises and thank the people who had voted for Congress. I wish those who did not vote for us will reconsider their decision in the future," he said.
In a statement, he thanked senior Congress leader G K Vasan for touring all the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Left with no allies, Congress had contested in all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry but ended up with a dismal performance with all its candiates, including Union Minister V Narayanasamy and other sitting members, biting the dust.
