Wintry conditions in Himachal after snow, rains

After snowfall, higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh got rains today leading to further dip in temperature.
Mid and lower hills of the state also received scattered rains.
Rohtang, Kunzam and Saach passes and Dhauladhar and Churdhar ranges had mild snowfall. Rohtang Pass was closed for traffic for nearly two hours.
The minimum temperature dipped to 2.0 degree Celsius at Keylong in tribal areas while key tourist resort of Manali recorded a low of 4.0 degree, followed by Kalpa 4.2 degree, Shimla 5.2 degree, Palampur 9.5 degree, Una 10.0 degree and Solan 11.2 degree.
The inclement weather plays spoil sport for para gliders at Bir-Billing in Kangra district as competitive leg of Para Gliding World Cup was abandoned for the third day today.

Kheri was wettest in the region with 24 mm rains while Kahu received 20 mm rains, followed by Amb and Gaggal 17 mm, Gohar 16 mm, Joginder Nagar andGuler 15 mm, Arki 14 mm, Dharamshala and Palampur13 mm, Sarkaghat 12 mm and Shimla and Bhoranj 10 mm.
There was no significant change in maximum day temperatures and Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 31.0 degree, followed by Sundernagar 27.9 degree, Nahan 27.5 degree, Bhuntar and Solan 25.5 degree and Shimla 19.8 degree C.
The rains are considered good for sowing of Rabi crop as moisture in the soil at this juncture would prove boon for farmers, said scientists of state Agriculture Department.
